Our association is governed by the members. Our committee structure allows you to participate in decisions that impact WIBA and KIBC – and therefore independent business overall.

About WIBA Committees
The following is a list and description of our committees:
Education Committee
This committee evaluates the need for seminars and workshops and strives to secure educationalprograms that support the WIBA mission statement.
Membership Development Committee
Responsible for the retention, growth and development of WIBA membership, this committee establishes, supervises and directs programs for enlisting new member businesses and the retention of current members.
Membership Benefits Committee
This committee monitors all WIBA membership benefit programs and seeks additional ones that enhance the value of WIBA membership to a business when they become a member. It is this committee’s responsibility to make a status report to the executive committee on a regular basis and make any recommendations for additions or changes in programs.
Legislative Affairs Committee
Monitoring issues, legislation, regulations and ordinances on the federal, state and local levels that havean impact on independent businesses is the charge of this committee. The members recommend positions or actions they feel WIBA should take, or not take, as an organization or alert members to so they can contact their representative, senator, or local official. Any recommended action needsexecutive committee approval to be presented to the WIBA Board of Directors.
K-12 Committee
This committee monitors Wichita School District affairs, budgets and general curriculum and makesrecommendations on action, positions or participation WIBA should take as an organization.
Nominating Committee
It is the responsibility of this committee to seek out eligible persons to serve on the board of directorseach year and place their names in nomination, when possible, not later than the October board meeting each year. A slate of officers needs to be presented, when possible, at the November board meeting. Also, they should make nominations to fill unexpired terms when they exist. Before a person is nominated to serve on the board, the requirements of board membership must be reviewed with them and the committee must have their consent to serve.
Communication Committee
This committee was formed to coordinate communication with the media as well as with organizations and individuals in south central Kansas and throughout the state. It provides a group of “go-to” members for media interviews and/or speaking opportunities.
