WHAT WIBA/KIBC IS PROHIBITED FROM DOING

Political Activity

• Make corporate contributions, either direct or in-kind, to expressly influence the outcomes of elections. This includes the use of WIBA/KIBC resources, including its facilities, office space, supplies, etc., for political purposes or to advocate the election or defeat of candidates.
• Engaging in Get-Out-The-Vote efforts targeting businesses not part of the general membership.
• Engaging in the distribution of mailings, other communications to businesses not part of the general membership with the goal of influencing the outcomes of elections. For example, sending letters to the editor under the WIBA or KIBC banner or corporate logo.
• Lend the WIBA/KIBC name or logo to candidates for use in mailings sent to the general public.

Issue Advocacy

• Mailings, other communications that extend beyond the membership of the organization designed to influence the outcome of legislative actions or regulatory agencies. This includes such things as paying for radio, television or newspaper advertisements or other materials sent to the general public.
